from topspeed............If you're into Mustangs, you'll be into this: Galpin Auto Sports, backed by SPX Corporation, will be building a 700-horsepower, wide-body Mustang to be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale event in January to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
While the charity angle makes it a feel-good proposition, the part that really gets us going is the 700-horsepower, wide-body Mustang. Inspired by the Mustang BOSS 429 and sporting a Ford Racing supercharger, the Galpin Mustang will be a mean-looking and undoubtedly quick muscle car.
Unfortunately, it'll be shod in 22x14-inch rear and 22x11-inch front three-piece wheels. Why unfortunately? Because tires that size aren't cheap--all the more so when they're Pirellis, as specced on this car. Grip costs money; 22-inch grip requires a trailer's worth of cash. But if you're able to buy the car, you can probably fit as many sets of tires as you'll want to, or need to, once you're in possession of this burnout machine.
Covered in custom PPG paint and packing a 1,000-watt JL Audio system and Bassani exhaust, the car will fit the full show-duty bill.
If you're interested in supporting either good cause--extreme muscle cars or children's cancer research--plan on spending some time in Scottsdale, Arizona next January. If you'd just like to get a look at the car, you can do that at SEMA 2011, where it'll be on display September 22-24.
