Meanwhile, here's 7 great tips for preserving the beauty of those hot wheels:

106 St Tire & Wheel takes great pride in our community profile and taking a leadership role in educating our loyal spanning many years of forming win – wins. 106 St Tire & Wheel has decades of hands on experience and we will always share what we know to assist our customers.

Here are some tips about avoiding damaging your rims whether they are steel, alloy, aluminum, forged, etc., 106 St wants you to get the most for your money…and that’s made us number one in Queens as NYC’s premier tire and wheel dealers.

Avoid damage to wheels:

1) Check your tire pressure often: there’s plenty information around about what the correct tire pressure is for the tires on your vehicle. Please go to your tire manufacturer’s website and find out what their recommendations are. You’re always on the right track when using the manufacturer’s recommendations for your tires or in your owner’s manual. Without proper air pressure there’s less of a cushion between your wheel and the road it travels on

2) We’re NYers and we know about construction, pot holes, badly paved streets, etc. This kind of thing is bad news for every driver not only for tires & wheels but for shocks and struts. Check out and take alternate routes and avoid the traffic, save gas, save your undercarriage and your wheels and tires.

3) AHOY! POT HOLE AHEAD? If you have lived a couple of winters in NY you know that certain places are prone to pot holes especially after wet, snowy or icy weather. Manhole covers seem to increase the risk of pot holes too as the pavement collapses around them. Usually, there’s some loose pavement or gravel around a pot hole and you feel it even if you can’t see it. SLOW DOWN, pot hole ahead!

4) Don’t use abrasive wheel cleaners: mild soap and water will clean your rims just as well as some of the pricey cleaners and cause less damage. Remember, when you start rubbing a dirty wheel, particles from the road become sandpaper-like with the same result…scratched wheels. Wash your wheels off with a hose or just a bucket of water to remove sand like road debris that can leave your wheels damaged if you start to rub.

5) Use caution in automatic car washes! The rails inside a automatic car wash are a possible source of curb rash and also employees can damage your clear coat or paint by using abrasive cleaners. Keep your eyes on this.

6) Avoid parallel parking: Most of us, sooner or later, will hit a curb somewhere causing the infamous curb rash. We can reduce that possibility by using parking lots where accessible, but, hey…this is NY.

7) Don’t let others drive your car: Ask yourself, “Who loves or needs my car more than me?” Please factor in other’s lack of experience behind the wheel, the everyday hazards of driving in this crowded city and the heavy volume of traffic. What did you have to sacrifice in order to purchase those hot wheels of yours? Will the person driving your car be mindful of the above as much as you will?
