To provide just a little history about TPMS, this electronic system while new to most was first incorporated into luxury European cars in the 1980s. The very first use of TPMS came in the 1986 Porsche. In 1997, General Motors introduced TPMS in the 5th generation Chevy Corvette in conjunction with Goodyear tires. By 2007 during Bill Clinton’s administration, the THREAD ACT was set forth making it mandatory for all vehicles produced after September of that year.
