Bridgestone, Falken, Firestone tire of Queens, tips on saving gas, 718-446-6769 24/7 help for tire repair

106 St Tire & Wheel Steps Up Efforts to Educate Customers About Saving Gas, Reducing Tire Wear & Saving Money

106 St Tire & Wheel, Inc. owners and operators of 4 tire and wheel stores in Queens, NYC has announced the continuation of their crusade begun 2 years ago to educate the borough’s 2.3 million residents.

With prices at the pump soaring, 106 St Tire & Wheel has again stepped up their efforts to increase awareness about what ordinary drivers can do to save money during the recession, improve safety, extend the life of their tires, and help Queens and NYC be a greener place to live and work.

A company spokesperson stated, “106 St Tire & Wheel, NYC’s premier tire dealer, has long considered itself a community action organization and we are pro-active in making sure Queens consumers know what’s going on in the tire and wheel business, in our borough and in the world itself. We’ve been dedicated to take our responsibility to the community seriously and offer Queens every advantage we can.

“There’s a lot at stake here in our own home town. As life long residents of Queens, we want our borough to be a greener and healthier place to raise our kids, too. And, with so much at stake, we will step up to the plate in the shadows of Mets Stadium, Citifield, and remind everyone in Queens that our borough is a microcosm of the country.

“First, let’s understand that the increases in gas prices are a result of greedy Wall Street speculators and not because of a shortage of oil. We’re urging our customers in Queens to call their U.S. Senators and Congressman and ask them to push up the vote on the Dodd-Frank bill which creates financial regulatory reform. Tires are, like gas, are petroleum-based products and therefore speculation costs drivers plenty for tires and gas. Gas price speculation costs about fifty cents per gallon so do the math.

“With an already a high cost of living here in Queens and NYC, as prices at the pump soar, 106 St Tire & Wheel wants to point out that there several things we can do to lower costs of owning and operating a car.

“First and foremost, please keep your tires properly inflated as there are savings to be had just on this point alone. Secondly, improperly inflated tires burn excess gas costing more at the pump and underinflated tires decrease you and your family’s safety in your car; this is the number one reason of tire related accidents. Also, tires are costly and they will wear out prematurely when your tire pressure is consistently too low. Tire pressure should be checked every month and whenever you are going to take a trip that involves hours of driving.

“We invite everyone to come in to any of our 4 Queens locations on Merrick Blvd in Jamaica, Queens Blvd, Northern Blvd or 108 St and our tire techs will check your pressure for free and fill your tires for free.

“Remember, our main location on Northern Blvd store is open 24 hours 7 days a week for our customers’ convenience so there is simply no excuse for under-inflated tires to cause an accident, ruin you tires, burn excess gas or pollute the air. 106 St Tire & Wheel guarantees our location on 106 St and Northern Blvd will be open 24/7 everyday of the year except Christmas day; don’t call, just come on over and let us help you be a better citizen, a safer driver and save yourself some much needed money during these tough times.”

“106 St Tire & Wheel also wants our friends and neighbors to know that by cleaning out your trunk, not idling, slowing down, taking the highway rather than crowded streets and avoiding stop and go traffic, changing your oil when your car’s owners manual says rather than blindly following what may be a myth for your make and model and by changing your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles you will save money on gas and more. Don’t have your owner’s manual? Google you make, model and year and find it fast on Google.”

“Also, by maintaining your vehicle by changing your sparkplugs, oil when needed and air filters, etc., as recommended in your owner’s manual you will never make a mistake.”

The spokesman for 106 St Tire & Wheel pointed to research by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence showing that dirty, misfiring, old spark plugs can be responsible for reducing MPG as much as a whopping 30%. Also, by replacing a clogged air filter you can improve your fuel economy by an up to an additional 10%.

106 St Tire & Wheel also asks that Queens drivers slow down, coast to red lights rather than use gas to power cars to a fast stop, MapQuest destinations prior to a trip rather than driving around to find a location and check owners’ manuals to see if that premium gas is a necessity rather than a myth.
